Uber expands ‘Reserve’ to six more cities in India: Here’s how to use the feature
Uber has announced the expansion of its Reserve service in India, now available in six additional cities. This new feature allows users to book rides in advance, ranging from 30 minutes to 90 days prior to their travel. In a significant move, Uber Reserve can now be paid for in cash, making pre-booked rides more accessible to riders. The service is already operational in a total of 13 cities across India, including Mumbai, Bangalore, Delhi-NCR, Kolkata, Chennai, Pune, Hyderabad, Kochi, Chandigarh, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Lucknow, and Guwahati.
Uber Reserve is showcased as a fresh option in the updated version of the Uber app, expanding its compatibility to Uber Premier, Uber Intercity, Uber Rentals, and Uber XL. The service is tailored to cater to various pre-planned travel requirements, including work trips, airport transfers, visits to medical professionals, and other scheduled appointments. Users can conveniently schedule their rides by selecting the Reserve icon in the app, allowing them to book ahead for up to 90 days or, at the very least, 30 minutes before their desired departure time. The app provides booking details, including the assigned driver, which can be reviewed closer to the time of travel. Furthermore, users can cancel their reservations free of charge up to one hour before the scheduled ride.
After booking, users will then wait for their assigned driver within the specified waiting time window allocated for their reservation. Once the driver arrives, riders can enjoy their journey stress-free. Alongside this new expansion, Uber encourages riders to plan their next trip in advance using the Uber Reserve service to ensure a hassle-free experience.
President of Uber India & South Asia, Prabhjeet Singh, expressed his enthusiasm for expanding the Uber Reserve service to more cities in India. According to Singh, Reserve provides riders with the peace of mind, certainty, and enhanced control over their trips. Additionally, Reserve provides drivers with greater flexibility by expanding the range of options between on-demand and pre-booked trips. Uber’s commitment to improving mobility experiences for both riders and drivers remains at the core of its mission, with Reserve offering an added layer of certainty and convenience for users of their services.
